A 39-year-old man has been charged with allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail into a restaurant at a popular dining promenade. 
The man was charged with reckless conduct endangering persons and two counts of arson after the incident in Southbank, , on Wednesday. 
Police alleged he lit a small fire in the reception area toilets at a hotel in Whiteman Street just before 12.30am.

The fire was put out before the man, who was seen in the foyer afterwards, moved on to Clarendon Street. 
He then allegedly hurled a Molotov cocktail through a window into a Southbank promenade restaurant near Crown Casino at about 1am, police said.
